Define Output Format of Material Numbers
During SAP implementation, Deciding Material Numbering
format is one of the argument issue with SAP Customer, Customer Existing
Material Numbering scheme often having meaningful numbering, This numbering
system has been in place quite some time & staff is familiar with this
numbering scheme & hence they want existing numbering scheme also implement
in SAP! So be aware that there are arguments
to use and not to use a meaningful Numbering format in SAP!!
Hence to go for setting first make sure you both agree
on numbering format as once you set the numbering format it is very hard to
change.
In this Post we will learn how to set the Output
Format of Material Numbers; We can define Material Output Format as per following:
·
Input and output
length of material numbers
·
Template for
displaying or printing material numbers
·
Form in which
material numbers are stored
·
Output with or
without leading zeros
You can make these definitions for each client.
STEP 1: Following is the path For DEFINE
OUTPUT FORMAT OF MATERIAL NUMBERS
- IMG NAVIGATION PATH :IMG > LO > GISTICS GENERAL > MATERIAL MASTER > BASIC SETTINGS > DEFINE OUTPUT FORMAT OF MATERIAL NUMBERS
- Transaction code : OMSL
STEP 2: Click on SAP Reference IMG Group, Go
as per following type Window path
STEP 3: Click on execute
button to DEFINE OUTPUT FORMAT OF MATERIAL NUMBERS, Then Following type Window will Pop Up
STEP 4: Update the Following Data
- Material No. Length: Once your Customer Decided the material numbering Scheme, Here you have to enter the length of material numbers.A material number can have a maximum of 18 characters.
- Material Number Template : If Customer Decided that numbering having in some defined format then we have to use this option, else you have to leave it blank ! template example : Following Image shows the template defines for internally assigned material numbers
In this case material numbers appear
as this example 123-456-1234567890 . The Only Character that cannot be used in
the template is the underscore (_) because that is used to signify a
non-template field.
·
Indicator : In above image the indicator are not set
hence if user enter the number 12345678 then the number will be stored as
000000000012345678 for example with
leading Zeroes
o
Lexicographical: this indicator is only relevant
for numeric material numbers either internally or externally defined, If this
Indicator set then zero also treated as a character. if user enter 123 then
system will store 123 and if user enter 00123 then system will store 00123.
o
Leading zeros : If this Indicator is set,
then the material number is shown with leading zeros, However, If the Lexicographical indicator is set, the
system ignores the setting of the Leading zeros indicator. if user enter 123 then system will store 000000000000000123
and if user enter 00123 then system will store 000000000000000123.
There are numerous reasons why it's imperative to check Social Security number data on your representatives, for example, to ensure that you are recruiting legitimate laborers, guaranteeing precise compensation reports, and guaranteeing that your workers' wages are appropriately credited to their SSA income records. A basic grammatical mistake could have sad long haul impacts on a representative. For instance, consider the possibility that a worker's SSN was entered erroneously. Imagine a scenario in which nobody saw this for quite a long time. A basic confirmation could stay away from this possibly terrible bungle.Numbers data
